The Mom Achievers Summit in Gurgaon

As I'm becoming older and wiser (it's my blog and if I want to use it to call myself wiser because, frankly, no one else does, then so it shall be), I'm being able to see in action what "the elders" have long been saying - that there's stuff in the world we can't really explain, that things tend to work out for the best in the long run, that finding yourself at the right place at the right time is not a coincidence, and that things happen for a reason.

I don't have a dramatic example for any of this stuff. Just a teeny tiny one, but it made me smile. On Friday night, famous stand up comedian, Vasu Primlani will be at Epicenter, Gurgaon doing a show called "Outlawed!" I really wanted to go and everything lined up - my husband was interested, my friend agreed to watch the kids, tickets were available (and not terribly expensive), and it looked like we would make it! Forgetful as I am though, just as I was about to pay for the tickets online, I realized that my dad was coming to stay with us for a day on Friday night - I had, as usual, mixed up the dates. Of course I'm delighted that I'll get to see my dad, but I was so hoping to see Vasu Primlani too!

Meanwhile, because, as "the elders" say, things are interconnected in a way we don't understand, I got a message from Neela Kaushik of Gurgaon Moms, (which is an amazing community of women in Gurgaon connected primarily through the medium of Facebook, sharing their questions, joys, sorrows, confusions, ideas, and even secrets as only women can.) In her message, she told me about the event she was putting together on Women's Day and invited me to come. It sounded very interesting - a lot of really smart women will be there - young entrepreneurs, successful business owners, women who have cracked the whole parenting thing (I bow to you, oh great ones), clinical psychologists, and even a life coach. We will spend the day sharing stories and talking, and I believe there's also some pampering to be had at the end of the day. So, of course, I happily (wisely?) jumped at the invitation. I clicked on the link to the program, and guess who I saw will be hosting the entire event? You got it - Vasu Primlani, herself!

So you see - now I have it all - time with my dad on Friday night and a morning with Vasu Primlani on Saturday:-).

The event is open to anyone who wants to be there - you have to register though, and it costs Rs. 1000. It's at Pullman, Gurgaon on Saturday - from 9:00 a.m to about 4:00 in the afternoon. Details of the event are available at this link.

I'm looking forward to it, and I'd urge you to go if you can. Who knows - you might realize later that you were there for a reason! Can't argue with "the elders," can we?
