Cocoberry: I've found true love!

Summer is almost here. Unfortunately, this hasn't magically resulted in me losing lots of weight and being able to eat unlimited amounts of ice cream. I don't think I'll ever reach a point in my life when I can just buy tubs of ice cream and keep them in my freezer knowing that even if I do give into the temptation to eat them all up, I'll be fine. Having to watch weight is a sad, sad reality.

On to happier things though...I may not be able to eat ice cream every day but once in a while, I can allow myself to eat something that's almost better! That's the frozen yogurt at Cocoberry at Galleria. They say it's fat free but it does have sugar, so you still can't go on an uncontrolled binge, but you don't have to feel too guilty about having a cup full once in a while. The yogurt is slightly tangy because it's fruit flavored and you'll have to decide if you have a taste for it. They have 4-5 flavors - original, berry blast, strawberry, blueberry, and green apple. Maybe a couple more that I'm forgetting. And then they have a pretty good selection of toppings - fruits, nuts, chocolates, and granola - that you can choose from. My favorite thing there is a the original yogurt with a topping of walnuts, almonds, and white chocolate chips. Yum!

I also like that they're not terribly overpriced. You can get a small cup, which is a good serving size, for 54 bucks. And add three toppings for another 20 bucks. That's about as much as most ice cream places, right? So you don't come away thinking you're having to pay extra just because this is a new thing in town.

Writing about this makes me long and yearn. That's what true love is all about, isn't it? :-)

You know - I like the concept behind Cocoberry - having seen it many times around the world.

Their execution really needs to be better though - the 2-3 times I have been to their Ambi mall store, I have always felt - why can't they have better quality or fresh toppings?

I really wish that they were a little world-class.
